We are actively recruiting a Director of Inventory Accounting in DFW Area. This person will provide leadership for a 4 person team, including managing all proper financial reporting of cost, and inventory accounting. The person will also support the field in proper accounting/processes related to inventory, inventory management and related costs for the company. The inventory accounting team works with the finance managers to drive costing oversight, compliance and supports costing and profitability analytics.
Responsibilities of the Director of Inventory Accounting:
Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring and ensure consistent application of cost accounting principles for a complicated multi-site public company.
Maintain accounting controls, recommend and document policies and procedures in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements and address any deficiencies raised by the auditors.
Supervise all work related to Inventory Accounting either directly or in collaboration with other Finance team members.
Ensure that all agreed closing schedules and deadlines are met by departmental staff.
Oversee and approve the development and execution of the logic used to assign costs, including the methods used to allocate overhead and other costs not specifically driven by material costs.
Establish and manage quality assurance processes to review and quantify the accuracy and completeness of the cost accounting system, including transaction level reviews during month-end close and reconciliations with the General Ledger.
Review and approve all inventory reconciliations prepared.
Manage the process of assessing inventory for excess and obsolescence reserves.
Review and approve all ad-hoc project report preparation and assist team with research on cost accounting questions and special projects as requested.
Drive improvement in understanding and analyzing of the cost and profitability by product.
Lead departmental initiatives to develop and improve the quality of information currently available in the department.
Requirements of the Director of Inventory Accounting:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA preferred.
CPA, CMA strongly preferred.
7+ years of cost accounting in a manufacturing company.
5+ years of month end inventory reconciliation experience.
Experience utilizing ERP accounting systems required, PeopleSoft preferred
