Job Description: The Controller is responsible for managing the Accounting Department in order to ensure the proper control of all Bank accounting, finance and related activities; implementing strategies to achieve goals developed for the department as part of the Finance Division's annual operating plan; ensuring the department's compliance with operating policies and procedures and outside regulatory requirements; directly supervising assigned personnel; communicating with appropriate management and staff personnel; providing periodic reports. Prefer familiarity with regulatory reporting including Bank Call report and financial statements. Strong management ability, leading by example and team-oriented. Acts as a liaison to outside auditing firms and other vendors. Assists the Chief Financial Officer as requested.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Manages the Accounting Department in order to ensure the proper control of all Bank accounting, finance, and related activities by performing various duties of which the following are illustrative: •Prepares regulatory reports and internal financial statements in accordance with FASB, SEC and all Federal Reserve reporting regulations. •Review the general ledger daily, identifying discrepancies and follows through with error resolution to ensure the integrity of the Bank’s balance sheet and income statement. •Monitors the Fed account and Bank’s cash position; approved the Federal Reserve daily requirement. •Reviews and approves all reports prepared by Accounting Representative(s), i.e. call report, GAP report, depreciation report, monthly financial reports. •Review the current process for recording and paying vendor (Accounts Payable) invoices to ensure adequate control. •Supervises the process and has the authority to ensure adequate funding request for wires. •Provides assistance in tax planning and compiling information for tax returns and reporting purposes. •Assists in the asset/liability management processes as directed. •Day to day management of department personnel (distribution of work, schedules, training, etc).
•3-5 years of Banking, Accounting or Auditing experience required. •Proficiency in tax and accounting matters and financial analysis •Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. •Detailed oriented, ability to multi-task under pressure. •Integrity, trust and confidentiality mandatory
