The Finance Division provides financial management, enterprise planning and stewardship in support of education, research, and strategic goals of Carnegie Mellon. Our mission is to provide university partners with the tools and resources needed to be well-informed leaders and effective decision makers. As part of the Controller's Office, International Finance provides financial and operational support for potential and university established international initiatives. We work closely with key partners to support CMU's mission and objectives while handling global compliance with the highest regard for international, federal, state and local laws and regulations.
We are seeking a Senior International Cash Accountant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. Reporting to the Manager, International Finance, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of cash activities for the university's international campuses. This includes reconciliation of cash accounts, management of account balances, letter-of-credit management, billing and receivable oversight and the reconciliation and maintenance of bank accounts in all countries of operation.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Perform detailed daily management of international cash accounts.This includes invoice requests and payments, student tuition receipts, coordinating entry of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, miscellaneous cash operations, and facilitation of international banking relationships.Review and approve Accounts Payable payment files.
Thorough and timely completion of monthly cash account reconciliations in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules both in Excel and through the Oracle Cash Management application.Oracle in-load of Cash Management banking files.
Perform the technical aspects of the cash transactions.This includes accessing the various bank accounts online or through direct email for daily statements, confirmations, payments, or bank files.Monitor the direct feed transfer/payment files.Provide suggestions for technical improvement.Coordinate with the financial business system team on technical updates or modifications.
Maintain and build relationships with a variety of individuals located at various university locations throughout the world to ensure efficient cash operations and resolution of issues as they arise. Coordinate and communicate with various departments, specifically in the areas of student accounts and University audits.
Complete general finance and accounting functions assigned within the International Finance offices which may include general ledger accounting, journal entries and monthly reconciliations as well as budget projections, analysis of financial data and trends, review and creation of financial spreadsheets and auditing for compliance to University policies and procedures.Responsibilities further complementing treasury related activities through peer benchmark, assessment, process guidance and other forms, may be required.
Support areas that facilitate international travel, procurement for international programs, and international shipping.

You should demonstrate:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance required; MBA or other advanced degree in accounting, finance or business administration highly desired.
Minimum five years of relevant experience in cash accounting experience required; knowledge of international accounting standards, GAAP, and experience with Oracle highly desired.
