Payroll Accounting Support Specialist, Finance Division-2011653
The Finance Division at Carnegie Mellon University responsible for providing financial management, enterprise planning and stewardship in support of education, research, and strategic goals of the university. As part of the Business Systems and Services Team, the payroll department supports the entire scope of pay operations for CMU, to include staff, faculty and students, international and domestic multi-state locations, and works in close collaboration with the human resources division.
We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Payroll Accounting Support Specialist to join the team, contribute to the transformation, and make a difference. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for accurate and timely pay accounting processing after each payroll run. Additionally, you will be responsible for executing day to day tasks such as payroll distribution adjustments, assisting with audit inquiries and supporting the payroll function on special assignments as needed.
Core responsibilities include:
Utilizing standard operating procedures to execute payroll accounting related tasks at prescribed cadences (daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual)
Aligning with standard operating procedures and processes to meet regulatory, compliance and internal requirements
Serving as an initial customer service, bring up point for issues related to pay accounting
Entering payroll distribution adjustments initiated by campus customers
Ensuring pay accounting processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate and timely
Supporting audits and capturing data as identified by Payroll Manager
Assisting with the reconciling of pay accounting journals to payroll general ledgers, both US and international
Performing other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field required or equivalent experience
Minimum of three to five years payroll or accounting experience (or equivalent)
Experience with ADP, Workday HCM, Benefits, and Payroll and Oracle Financials preferred
