Carnegie Mellon is a private, global research university, internationally known in artificial intelligence, the performing arts, business administration, economics and computer science. The Masters of Science in Computational Finance (MSCF) program, ranked one of the top-ranked quantitative finance programs in the country, is the joint venture between four Carnegie Mellon colleges, the Tepper School of Business, the Math Department in Mellon College of Science, the Statistics and Data Science Department in Dietrich School of Social Sciences and the Heinz College for Information Systems and Public Policy.
The MSCF Career Services department is searching for an Assistant Director to join the team as part of the Pittsburgh office. This is an excellent opportunity if you thrive in an interesting work environment. In this role, you will be responsible for advising students, building workshops and events, employer development, and database management.
Core responsibilities will include:
Student Advising/Consultation: Provide MSCF students and alumni individual assistance in defining career options, developing employment skills, and job-search strategies. Use industry insights to provide individual and group career coaching.
Career Development Workshops/Events: Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development workshops to include resume preparation, job-search strategies, interview skills, and experiential learning preparation. Plan and implement annual alumni mock interviews, alumni career panels, corporate presentations and on campus recruiting events and interviews.
Employer Development: Identify and engage with employers to expand internship and full-time employment opportunities for the program.
Assist in the development and maintenance of an effective employer relationship program; participate in efforts with regional and national companies through site visits (travel), mail campaigns, and marketing; update and revise recruiter-focused materials annually.
Resource Development and Database Management: Coordinate resources in support of programming and student career development to support students in meeting the accelerated recruiting timelines. Handle career services job database to ensure effective student and employer engagement.
Additional: Collaborate with MSCF and career services team to facilitate communication with external and internal partners. Plan, implement and evaluate innovative programming as market trends change.

You should demonstrate:
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills (including public speaking), aptitude with numbers and statistical/mathematical analysis techniques, self-confidence, and persuasiveness.
Knowledge of the campus recruiting process and capability to interact efficiently with corporate recruiters and facilitate successful recruitment of graduate students.
Excellent organizational, time management and planning skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple high-priority demands from different constituents.
Capacity to market the MSCF program and inspire confidence.
Detail-orientation, the aptitude to "see the big picture," self-starter, computer literate (MS Office Suite and databases).
You should be able to travel domestically, specifically between the Pittsburgh and New York locations as needed for large events.
Bachelor's degree in business, financial engineering or counseling required; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum one year of experience, preferably in a financial services firm or working with career services/recruiting required; five years of related experience preferred. Active membership in relevant professional organizations desired.
