West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Finance & Business Services team invites applicants for the position of Senior Business Systems Analyst. The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) supports the development and implementation of business processes and technology solutions. The BSA is expected to be knowledgeable of a particular unit or business function’s software application requirements, business processes, regulations and industry standards and general business requirements. The BSA stays current on software applications and their features and functions that support the business area’s needs. Under general direction of supervisor, the BSA works on the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the university’s business systems, including requirements gathering, functional design, testing, system documentation and training material; and provides troubleshooting and end user support for key systems. Skills are required that significantly contribute toward the objectives of improving business processes, satisfying campus wide resource needs for cost effective and efficient services and materials, conserving assets, achieving University goals and missions, and promoting its stated values and strategic plans. The BSA must demonstrate a professional demeanor and be highly motivated, responsible, adaptable, team and customer service oriented with the ability to effectively handle multiple discipline / cross functional assignments. - Maintains and updates key business systems data and business content online.
- Gathers and documents Business, Functional and non-Functional requirements, including business process and workflow modeling, as well as System Context and Data Diagrams.
- Improves systems by studying current practices; and identifying potential process improvements.
- Executes test plans and tracks issues and defects to resolution.
- Recommends controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures.
- Monitors project progress by tracking activity.
- Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; providing help desk support; training users.
- Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: - Performs data entry and data maintenance for business systems to support daily operations, as well as for the support of key stakeholders throughout the university who rely on university systems. Also performs periodic audits of system data to identify and replace outdated data. Will be responsible for operational activities on a daily, monthly, and fiscal year end basis for time sensitive Accounting \ Financial activities. Monitors and troubleshoots data interfaces between key system as needed. Performs ad-hoc queries and reports as needed to support business processes.
- Implements and supports user forms and workflows using Microsoft SharePoint platform.
- Maintains and updates online content for both external and internal sites while ensuring that site design follows best practices and facilitates ease of use for both internal and external users. Includes maintenance for training content and FAQs, business policies and procedures as well as system design documentation for internal use.
- Supports system design and development through stakeholder reviews, requirements gathering, process mapping, design documentation and testing. Includes both new system implementations, system upgrades and modifications to current systems, as well as new reports.
- Maintains and implements onboarding \ offboarding for division staff for issues related to system access, position related training, and necessary data updates for key university systems.
- Provide user support in the following areas: system access and security for key business systems; responses to user support issues independently or in conjunction with the Help Desk; training for Help Desk staff for issue resolution as needed.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field.
- 5 Years of experience in a Business Analyst role that included requirements gathering and design documentation.
- Work history that demonstrates understanding of relational database design principles
- Work history that demonstrates ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Work history that demonstrates ability to communicate effectively one-on-one as well as in a team setting
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
- Experience with InfoPath AND / OR Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate \ Flow)
- Experience with SAP (HR and / or Finance Module a plus)
- Experience performing QA / testing functions on a software development project
- Experience with Higher Education ERP solutions (PeopleSoft, Ellucian Banner a plus)
