Summary of Principal Responsibilities
The Finance Manager assists the Director of Finance and Budgets and the Finance Unit in supporting the monthly close process, financial analysis and reconciliations, grants management and monitoring, general ledger accounting, and overall review of transaction. The Finance Manager works closely with other departments especially the Development Unit in ensuring regular financial processes are completed and monthly reports issued on a timely basis.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Finance Manager position include the following:
- Coordinate with finance staff including Regional Controllers in the performance of daily tasks including grant accounting, monthly financial reconciliations and provide general ledger transactional support.
- Support regional and unit leadership with effective financial information, analysis, and guidance.
- Assist and guide regional and central office staff in their understanding and analysis of financial information within multi-currency environments.
- Collaborate with regional and central office staff to monitor financial results against budget and identifying, explaining, and resolving variances.
- Provide support for program grant audits and work closely with program finance staff to resolve any issues and prepare for the audits. Maintain and update a running calendar of audit dates and schedules.
- Maintain and improve standard operating procedures for internal and grant reporting, grants fiscal management and compliance, budgeting and fiscal monitoring, and general ledger accounting functions.
- Manage monthly closing schedules and coordinate closing activities.
- Review and general ledger entries for reporting units: provide general ledger support to international regions. This includes (but is not limited to) expense allocations, cost distributions, transfers, adjustments, and revenue recognition as directed by the Director of Finance and Budgets.
- Provide support as needed for the new financial system implementation support which may include handling tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance and Budgets to facilitate timely project completion.
- Work with the CFO as needed and provide support on financial schedules, analysis and reports.
- Special projects as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience, preferably in accounting, finance, or other related business field.
Experience: At least five years of accounting and finance experience, with three at a management level, in a multi-divisional organization. Experience in an organization with international operations is a plus, but not required. Experience working with annual operating budgets of $20 million or greater involving high volumes of finance and accounting transactions with allocations across multiple programs or projects.

- Experience with grants fiscal management as it relates to compliance and reporting for funders.
- Experience coordinating audit activities, internal management reporting and developing budgets.
- Intermediate to advanced level skill with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint or equivalent required.
- Intermediate skill with Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon) or equivalent a plus.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and cooperatively, as a member of a team. Must be organized and able to set priorities among a variety of tasks and to ensure timely completion of responsibilities. Able to work in a high-traffic area with frequent interruptions. Willing to work on various tasks as assigned.
- Able to work a flexible schedule as needed.
Compensation: Salary $60,000 - Exempt – Comprehensive medical and hospitalization plan; term life, accident and salary continuation insurances, defined benefit pension plan, plus fringe benefits; participation in unemployment and worker’s compensation and social security.
